I am so behind in posting about his progress… Did I mention I am LOVING this dog!! Also not to mention that he is conformationally turning out nice.
This weekend was what I needed. I came with a plan to take Frodo to the next level of training and he rose to the occasion.
Tracking: Sucked. Not sure what else to say. Honestly, this dog has been doing some wonderful tracks for me, but today… not so much. I made the mistake of doing some obedience with him before taking him to the track. With my more seasoned dogs I do this to gather their attention before I put them on the track. It was the first time I attempted this with Frodo and it did nothing more than confuse him. When he got to the track, he kept turning around like “why are you behind me?!?! Is the this obedience or tracking?!?!” He finally finished the dismal track and I took him off and played with him. I didn’t make a big deal because I figured he will forget about that. The only positive aspect of the situation was, after palying he ran back to the track and did a BEAUTIFUL track with no leash. Normally I discourage letting a dog go back after the fact, but in this instance I felt it was warranted.
Obedience: He is coming along nicely. Unlike others, I spend LOTS of time with positions. I feel if the dog understands the correct position (completely, without any doubt in his mind), everything falls into place with very little training. So we are doing tons of sitz and platz. No matter where I am you will sitz and platz when I ask and not move until I say otherwise. He did an excellent job today… other than one minor blip. Did I mention that he thought grabbing me by my ponytail was a great idea!!! Yeah, that didn’t work out so well for both parties. I screamed, hair went flying, and then I was ticked!! It is so hard to be mad at my boy!!
Protection: Ok, sorry for my crudeness, but this boy is all balls and teeth… with a lots of fur in between!!! When I pull him out, people don’t believe that he is just a puppy. I get the “Eleven months my ass” comment all the time. He is just solid in all aspects and did I mention he has the coat of a Rottie
It may not be correct, but I don’t mind. I think he is finally coming into his manhood. Even though he is great with people, people are no longer so quick to approach him. He just has this way of staring at people. People don’t like how he looks at them and often ask, “What’s up with your dog?” I assure them he is fine
And he is… I just can’t help that he glares at people. Anyway, for today’s training he got to meet Ron. It was time he learned not all people are nice and I was confident he was ready for this. All I can say is I left with big smile and was very happy with Ron’s decoy work!! He did an excellent job of reading Frodo and bringing him to the next level.

Ever have one of those nights…
I come home from work, grayed out Snipsie dancing around delighted to see me, and I am just as delighted to see her; and then I realize these moments are slowly reaching their end…
She has been through ten long years with me and hopefully many more ’cause I don’t know what I am going to do without her.

My goal with the B-litter is to produce a beautiful Doberman who can work. Dog’s from this litter will excel in any protection sport and will also be well suited for SAR, obedience, tracking, personal protection, agility, Mondio, AKC obedience, and any other sport. Puppies from this breeding will make excellent pets, but will require a home willing to dedicate time to training and exercise.
Dam info:
Cosmo (Bara Royal Dux) comes from top European show lines who have successfully competed at high level competitions, earned Koerung for life ratings of 1A, and also earned their Championships in Europe. Cosmo IMO is a great example of beautiful structure along with excellent working ability. She has lots of natural drive in tracking making her a breeze to train. She earned high tracking for her Schutzhund one. Cosmo also is a very smart and motivated dog who likes to please me. Her obedience is very precise, but happy and energetic. In protection she has a very deep bark and intensity in her work that demands attention when she is on the field! Over all I have been very pleased with her. Cosmo has the following titles: BH, WAC, ATT, SchH I and the following health results: OFA hips good, OFA elbows normal, vWD Clear, Thyroid low normal, Cardio echo normal as of JAN 2009. For more information on her pedigree please click on the link below. From Cosmo’s page you can click on the dogs in her pedigree to learn more about them and also see more photos of her.
