Brownie’s Return
Burkhard von Schlottke has found his new forever home with us after being abandoned by his previous owner. He was left in a garage in NC, in over a 100 degree weather, in a small crate to die.
I owe a HUGE thank you to the individuals who stepped in and not only saved him, but saved the other dogs, puppies and animals that were still living in the home… unfortunately some were not so lucky. I was told when Brownie was found he weighed around 35 lbs and more than likely would not have survived the night. Oh, did I mention he had a bark collar on too? I guess the previous owner didn’t want to hear his final pleads for food and water. One promise I can assure Brownie, is he will never have to worry about such things again. Once I am given the green light to discuss the details of his rescue, rest assured I will post here for everyone to read.
Below are photos of Brownie and his new BFF Ratter having fun. These are taken almost exactly two months after he was found and as you can see he is doing great!! Although, his back right leg is causing him pain and needs to be seen at UPENN. I am not sure if this is a result of a traumatic injury (abuse?) or from being kept in a tiny crate 24/7. I will keep everyone posted on his progress.

Hi Tori, this is Michele in NC. You and I had talked a few years ago actually about Brownie’s litter. I am just in total SHOCK at what I have read and am almost speechless!! I am SO sorry to hear what has happened to him as well as the other animals in the house. I know there were several dogs there and I just can not believe someone would do this!!!! When you can comment, I would really like to know more as this is close to home for me. Thank you and again, I am just in shock that someone could even do this!! I hope payback is HELL!!!!

Hi, so sad to hear about Brownie – and the other animals – but good to hear he is home. I, among others, followed Amanda Shadforth’s story on Dobermantalk, including pictures as she brought in each new addition. I remember Brownie the puppy. How shocking this could happen, especially involving someone you ‘knew’, or thought you knew through the life she shared on the forum. There aren’t words to express how I feel right now. But I am happy Brownie is looking good and is home!! thank you.
